WBC interim-middleweight champion Marco Antonio Rubio (59-6-1, 51KOs) says every possible tactic will be necessary to defeat WBA/IBO beltholder Gennady Golovkin (30-0, 27KOs) in their HBO televised match on October 18th at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Rubio is training with veteran coach Robert Garcia in Oxnard.

"The plan will be to work very hard in the gym, obviously. We have to use many tactics, not just one, not just jab or feint - but we have to use everything that exists in boxing to secure a win against a machine like him. The most important thing here is going to be the strength and conditioning," Rubio told Alfredo Berrios.

"We know it's a very strong commitment and we take pleasure in that."That's what we want, to fight the best in the world."

Rubio has been trying to get full WBC champion Miguel Cotto in the ring, and a rematch with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., but sees Golovkin as the first step in that direction.

"I think first you have to think about this fight and then good things will come. We have to focus hundred percent on this fight and then win it," Rubio said.
