Last week, Joe Calzaghe said Roy Jones Jr. will be a much tougher fight than his April spilt-points win over Bernard Hopkins. When recently interviewed, Jones, 39, went a step further and said that he is best fighter that Calzaghe has ever faced in his entire career.
Roy Jones Jr has warned Joe Calzaghe that he will be his toughest opponent yet. The former-division champ meets Calzaghe at the light heavyweight limit of 175-pounds on September 20 at New York's Madison Square Garden.
"This will be the most exciting fight of Joe's career because he is fighting the best fighter he's ever faced," said Jones to The Mirror. "Joe's a great fighter, the best pound-for-pound around today. So that's what I'll be when I beat him."
Jones said that he will probably retire from the sport if Calzaghe beats him.
"If I lose, then, yeah, it could be the end for me," said Jones. "But if he beats me, he beats me at my best. There will be no excuses. "They call him a slapper, but they used to say that about me too and they still got knocked out."
