MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS, NV - BoxingScene.com recently caught up with middleweight veteran Gabriel Rosado who was in town for Canelo Alvarez's knockout victory over Sergey Kovalev.
The Philadelphia native discussed a variety of topics including the December 7th heavyweight rematch pitting WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz against Anthony Joshua.
Joshua shocked the world in June when he stopped Joshua in New York. Ruiz recovered from an early knockdown to score one of his own. Even though Joshua would rise to his feet, he never fully recovered from the first knockdown and would be stopped on his feet in the 7th round.
The stage is now set for the rematch which will take place in Saudi Arabia and like the first fight, will be streamed on DAZN.
Rosado expects a the sequel to be very similar to their first encounter. He doesn't feel that Joshua will be able to make the necessary adjustments to regain his titles. He thinks that Joshua is making a mistake by not giving Ruiz more credit for his victory the first time around.
"I think Ruiz gets him. I think he's got his number. He is in his head. The way that Joshua is speaking I think he is still concussed. No disrespect but it's like he's giving Ruiz no respect. He says that it was a lucky punch. I think the fight went what 7 rounds? It was multiple rounds of punishment. That is more than a lucky punch bro. I think that Ruiz is underestimated just because of his appearance. The dude can fight man. He's got hands. He's strong and he can punch," Rosado told BoxingScene.com.
