WBA "regular" super middleweight champion Rocky Fielding is still a bit stunned that he secured a showdown with Mexican superstar Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.
Last week, Canelo announced his intention to move up to 168-pounds to challenge Fielding for his title on December 15 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
Canelo is coming off his career-defining decision win over Gennady Golovkin to capture the WBC, WBA middleweight titles, which took place last month in Las Vegas.
Both the WBA and WBC have voiced their support for Canelo's decision to move up.
Should Canelo lose, he will still remain as the unified champion at 160-pounds.
Some fans have soured on the fight, because Callum Smith - who knocked out Fielding in one round - is recognized by most as the "real" WBA champion at the weight, after capturing the division's "super" title with a knockout of George Groves in the World Boxing Super Series.
Despite being the smaller man, Canelo is a massive favorite to snatch away Fielding's title.
But Fielding believes that his physical advantages, combined with his boxing ability, will play a big role in the contest.
"He's moving up from middleweight, I am big super middleweight, I've got the height and the reach so I am up against a tough fighter, one of the elite fighters, but I've got to be in it to win it," Fielding said to Sky Sports.
"I am going there confident of winning it and I'm confident I can win it, I'm not going there just because it's Canelo at Madison Square Garden. I am going there to defend my title. I want to keep my title. I've worked towards winning it, now I am working on defending it, regardless of who it's against and where. I want to defend it as much as possible and this is just the first."
