Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32KOs) has long been criticized for being lazy during training camp but for this camp he trained very hard and following every instruction, according to his new trainer Robert Garcia of Oxnard, California.
This Saturday night in El Paso, Texas - Chavez Jr. will return to the ring in a fight agreed to at a max weight of 169-pounds against Marcos 'Dorado' Reyes.
Garcia says Chavez Jr. trained very hard, day after day, and he often worked way beyond schedule.
"Julio has his own style and I will not change that," said Garcia to ESPN Deportes. "We have only corrected some small things, like making sure that he doesn't have his head in front of his opponent and lets them get off with punches as he did in the last couple of fights. I want him to use the jab and move a little from side to side.'
"I think everything has been much easier than I expected. Julio is training every day. He is doing everything that he needs to do and everything was easier. He's training hard, he loves to train."
