Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada -Throughout the promotion for Saturday's super-fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao, trainer Freddie Roach has been a quote machine, verbally attacking Mayweather or his father/trainer whenever given the opportunity. While meeting with the press on Tuesday, Roach praise his fighter, saying that he is more physically gifted than Mayweather.
While Mayweather is taller and has a reach advantage, Roach feels that Pacquiao has the edge in speed and power and that will be the difference in the fight.
"We have better speed than he has. I feel we have better power with quick movement. I don't think he will be able to handle it and I don't think his legs are quite there anymore. He can't move for 12 rounds like he used to. He can't run for 12 rounds so I think we will catch him somewhere along the way. If he wants to rest on the ropes we will take advantage of it. We are ready to go 12 hard rounds. That is what we trained for," said Roach.
The confident Roach has predicted in several interviews that not only will Pacquiao win, but that he will win by stoppage. Roach said that while he believes a knockout is forthcoming, it isn't the only way Pacquiao has a shot at winning.
"Yes I do (think we can get a decision). I think we can win on points," Roach stated.
Mayweather-Pacquiao takes places on Saturday night at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and will be distributed by HBO/Showtime pay-per-view.
