Back in September, during their promotional press tour, WBO junior welterweight champion Chris Algieri gave a stone necklace to Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach.
Algieri, who has a master’s degree in nutrition from Stony Brook University, wears the exact same necklace and claims the stones help create positive energy and provide health benefits. Roach suffers from Parkinson’s syndrome.
Over the last few weeks, Roach has revealed that he has a strong dislike for Algieri, who later tonight in Macau will challenge Roach's fighter, Manny Pacquiao, for the WBO welterweight crown.
"That stone I gave it to my dog, he f***ing loves it. He runs around like crazy. That's his new collar, he loves that stone. I should thank him for my dog. I don't believe in magic. I don't believe in voodoo. There is no way I put a necklace on and my Parkinson's is going to go away. I wish it was that easy," Roach said.
