WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan has confirmed that his trainer, Freddie Roach, will work his corner for the fight with Paul McCloskey on April 16 at the MEN Arena in Manchester. Roach is planning to break away from the ongoing training camp with Manny Pacquiao to be at Khan's side in Manchester.
Roach is training both Khan and Pacquiao in Baguio City in the Philippines. Pacquiao is getting ready for his fight with Shane Mosley, scheduled for May 7 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
“Freddie is giving up the training camp with Manny Pacquiao to be with me in Manchester, and I take that as real compliment and a sign of how highly he thinks of me,” Khan told The Daily Telegraph.
“I’m enjoying the solitary working conditions in Baguio City, and have changed to an organic vegetable diet and lean meats under new conditioning coach Michael Vale. I feel stronger and more powerful."
