The British heavyweight scene is in good shape with the emergence of Tyson Fury, David Price and Dereck Chisora. But there is one fighter who has largely gone unnoticed, Richard Towers. At 6ft8 and weighing in at 250lbs, he certainly fits the mold of the modern day heavyweight. However, at the age of 32 and with virtually no amateur experience, how far can he really go?
Towers, formerly known as Hayles, was jailed for 13 years after being involved in the kidnapping of a man from Sheffield. Having served six and a half years, Towers returned to pursue a career in boxing. Since turning pro back in 2009, he has amassed a record of 12 wins with no losses, 9 wins by stoppage.
