Former world champion Ricardo "El Matador" Mayorga (31-9-1, 25KOs) is working out the details of a ring return on a date in December in Managua, Nicaragua. The fight would headline an event being promoted by Bufalo Boxing Promotions, which is run by former world champion Rosendo Alvarez.

Mayorga has been out of the ring since last August, when he was knocked out by Shane Mosley in the rematch which took place at The Forum in Inglewood, California.

Back in July, the social networks were running wild after some pictures appeared of Mayorga, where the boxer was allegedly out cold from a night of drinking, and sleeping it off at the side of a gas station.

Mayorga, who is a candidate for the position of mayor in Managua, is no stranger to this type of scandal, but according to the wife of the boxer, Herenia Silva, the photo being circulated is 4 years old, and it was taken after a long walk to a clinic in Granada, because their son was ill.

While some claim the photo was taken near a gas station, others state the photo was taken in front of Plaza Spain in the capital of Managua, after Mayorga locked himself out of his car by leaving the keys inside the vehicle. After being unable to recover the keys, he preferred to sleep on the street.

Through his Facebook account, Rosendo Alvarez defended Mayorga, and made a call for fans to delete those photos off the internet, to guard the image of Mayorga.

"I remind those who express hatred and political ideology, the world keeps turning and any of us could fall very low inadvertently, contaminated by drugs and alcohol," he wrote. "Please do not collaborate in the self-destruction of a man's life who was the sporting glory of our country."
