Foxwoods Resort, Mashantucket, Connecticut - In his first defense of the world title, Rances Barthelemy (21-0, 12KOs) easily dominated Fernando David Saucedo (52-6-3, 8KOs) over twelve rounds to retain the IBF super featherweight title. All three judges scored it 120-108.
Rances controlled the pace of the fight, picking his shots and getting very little in return from Saucedo. There wasn't much action, or drama, as Saucedo was never able to change the tempo. Rances unloaded in the fifth, getting Saucedo in trouble during the final ten seconds.
Saucedo was just too slow, telegraphed his punches and couldn't get off. During the eleventh, Saucedo final started pushing Rances against the ropes and letting his hands go, but there wasn't much getting through. Saucedo was stalking in the twelfth and final round, with the champion outboxing him and using defense to get away from anything big.
