Roger Mayweather, uncle and trainer of Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs), fully expects his nephew to stop WBA 154-pound champion Miguel Cotto (37-2, 30KOs) on May 5th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Speaking with BoxingScene.com, Roger questioned whether Cotto presented a bigger challenge, in terms of danger, than Floyd's previous opponent, Victor Ortiz - and he also questioned whether Cotto is even better than the 2007 version of Oscar De La Hoya, who took Floyd to a twelve round split decision.

"I think my nephew has too much skill for him. It's going to be a good fight for a while, but I think in the end my nephew will stop him. I don't know what round he will do it, but I think that he will stop him because he has got too much boxing ability for him. He knows what he has to do when he gets in there. It will be no different than the last guy who's ass he whooped. It will be no different than Ortiz. What difference is there with [Cotto] and Ortiz? He ain't faster than Ortiz. Remember, [Mayweather] already fought at 154. He whooped De La Hoya at 154....and that's about damn near ten years ago. Who says that he's even better than De La Hoya?," Roger said to BoxingScene.com.
