Carlos 'El Indio' Quintana (27-3, 21KOs), the former WBO welterweight champion, will now fight on February 18 in Ponce on the card to be presented by Universal Promotions in the coliseum Juan 'Pachin' Vicens. He aims to make a statement at 154 pounds and challenge Sergio Martinez, the king of the WBC at middleweight, or Miguel Cotto, the WBA champion at 154-pounds.
"I want to make a good statement at 154 pounds and rise again. I'll make a statement to see if I can fight with Martinez. I am and educated left hander. It would be a great fight. And Miguel, it would be a good rematch. He is one of the best and comes to fight and gives a great show. If I win a few key fights, it would be a good rematch, at 154." Quintana said.
Quintana was supposed to fight on Jan. 26 in Mayagüez, but an injury to unbeaten Cesar Seda caused promoter Javuer Bustillo to recruit Quintana from Lou DiBella, who was visiting from the United States. DiBella signed prospect Jose Pedraza, along with Gary Shaw and Bustillo.
