BoxingScene.com has been advised that hard-puncher Ruslan Provodnikov (22-2, 15KOs) has agreed to all the terms for an HBO televised headliner against WBO interim-champion Mike Alvarado (34-1, 23KOs), according to Provodnikov's promoter Artie Pelullo of Banner Promotions. The fight would take place on October 19th in Alvarado's hometown of Denver.
There were some details that had be worked out on Provodnikov's end of the deal, but everything has now been resolved. Pelullo is waiting for Top Rank to inform him that Alvarado has agreed to his end of the deal.
"We are on board. Provodnikov has agreed to everything, to all the terms. He doesn't care where the fight happens. As far as we're concerned the fight is done [on our end], we're just waiting for Alvarado," Pelullo told BoxingScene.com.
Alvarado last fought in March, where he won a close twelve round unanimous decision over Brandon Rios in their high profile rematch. Provodnikov was also last seen in action in the month of March, when he moved up to the welterweight division and nearly knocked out WBO champion Timothy Bradley. While Provodnikov came close, Bradley was able to hang on and win a razor-close twelve round decision.
