Sauerland Event, and their fighters Alexander Povetkin (23-0, 16KOs) and Marco Huck (34-1, 25KOs), are very receptive to staging a big event on February 25th. Huck, the WBO cruiserweight champion, would move up to heavyweight to challenge Povetkin for his WBA "regular' heavyweight title. While talks continue, Huck has not signed off on the fight.
There is also the matter of Povetkin's obligation to fight mandatory challenger Hasim Rahman. Povetkin was given permission to face voluntary challenger Cedric Boswell a few weeks ago. After Povetkin knocked Boswell out, Huck stormed the post fight press conference and challenged the Russian champion.
"Indeed, we do have plans for a fight between Povetkin and Huck on February 25. However, nothing has been finalized because not everyone has give their consent to this contest..in particular Marco Huck," Sauerland rep Frank Bleydorn told Alexander Pavlov.
