Former champion Shawn Porter (26-1-1, 16KOs) is hoping to get his hands on Floyd Mayweather Jr. (48-0, 26KOs) on September 12th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Porter stunned Mayweather's close friend, Adiren Broner, with a twelve round unanimous decision last month in a "Premier Boxing Champions" main event.

After the match, Porter called for the fight. Mayweather revealed other possibilities in the form of Andre Berto and Karim Mayfield.

Like everyone else in the welterweight division, Porter is waiting to get a call for the Mayweather lottery. Porter warns that he won't wait for long. He wants to avoid the same mistake that was made by Amir Khan, who turned down numerous opportunities in late 2013 and early 2014 - thinking he would land a Mayweather shot - but the pound-for-pound king selected Marcos Maidana instead.

"I've proved that I deserve a fight like that. I'm ready. If he want it, come get it. If not, we'll move forward. I've said this before, I'm not going to hold my breath for a guy like that and stop my career. I want the fight, but I won't [be] like Amir Khan and pass up opportunity after opportunity to wait on him to make a decision. We want this decision soon and we're looking to back in the ring soon," Porter told Fight Hub.
