Kompayak Por Pramuk stopped Jean Pierro Perez in the sixth round in Thailand this afternoon to become the WBA Interim Flyweight Champion, making him the only Thai boxer to currently hold a world title.
The Venezuelan had a significant height and reach advantage and used it to good effect in the opening round, circling away from Kompayak and picking him off from the outside as the Thai pressed forwards looking to bang away to the body of Perez.
In round two Kompayak's policy of throwing almost nothing but power shots paid off as he landed two hard right hands which seemed to wobble Perez who initially looked to hold but recovered well. At the start of the third round the Venezuelan was landing some crisp combinations and using his footwork to good effect but Kompayak stunned him with another right hand and with Perez trapped against the ropes he moved in for the kill with a barrage of big shots.
