The countdown is on before Isaac “Pitbull” Cruz hopes he can get the momentum back into his career.
His wings were clipped last August when he lost his WBA junior welterweight title to Jose Valenzuela but he returns Saturday (February 1) against Angel Fierro at the T-Mobile in Las Vegas.
“Our bags are packed and we’re ready to see everyone in Vegas this week,” said Cruz, 26-3-1 (18 KOs). “People are eager to see us back in the ring once again and there’s no better way to kick off 2025 than with an all-out Mexican battle.”
It will mark Cruz’s third outing in Vegas, and he returns to the site of his title-winning effort against Rolly Romero. Boxing in the sport’s Mecca is a sign that he is operating at the top of the sport.
“I remember my first time fighting in Las Vegas because it was the culmination of years of hard work,” the 26-year-old said. “Every Mexican fighter wants to fight in Las Vegas and I’m thankful to be coming back. This doesn’t feel much different than that first time and that’s because of all the fans who have shown me love. I’m thankful for them and I want to make them proud. Saturday, February 1 is a new beginning. Fans love these types of fights and that’s who I fight for. We had a strong training camp to be at our best when the bell rings. The goal is to retake our spot at the top and get into more big fights. We’re going to go into that ring in great shape.”
ProboxTV’s championship series is now on the ProBoxTV YouTube channel for $5/month.
