Dylan Trevino / Premier Boxing ChampionsLAS VEGAS – Isaac Cruz has a main-event showcase to flex the advancements he’s made by aligning with new trainer Eddy Reynoso when Mexico’s Cruz headlines a PBC on DAZN September 19 card in San Diego.
BoxingScene learned Wednesday night that WBC interim 140lbs champion "Pitbull" Cruz, 28-3-2 (18 KOs), will fight atop a card that will land at Pechanga Arena in San Diego. ESPN Knockout previously reported that Cruz is headed to fight Puerto Rico’s unranked 140lbs fighter Nestor Bravo, 24-1 (17 KOs).
The card is still being built, according to an individual familiar with the event.
Former WBA 140lbs champion Cruz returns to the ring after his December draw with Lamont Roach Jnr, the former junior lightweight champion who fights for the vacant WBC lightweight belt Saturday in Las Vegas versus No. 1 contender William Zepeda.
Cruz has switched from his trainer-father to Reynoso, who has cornered Canelo Alvarez to becoming a four-division champion, and also trains Jaime Munguia, the former 154lbs champion from Tijuana who showed major strides while taking the WBA super middleweight belt from Jose Armando Resendiz May 2 in Las Vegas.
Reynoso’s training camp is located in San Diego.
