Lamont Peterson reckons he is the toughest opponent Amir Khan has faced. The man who calls himself 'Havoc' will challenge the current WBA super and IBF light welterweight champion on December 10th, live on HBO and Sky Sports HD. It will be Khan's sixth title defence in two years and he will begin as the heavy favourite at the Convention Center in what could be his last fight at 140lbs.

Peterson's only other world-title experience came in a points loss to WBO boss Timothy Bradley in December 2009, but believes he has the skill and experience to pull off a major surprise.

"I would say I'm the toughest fighter Khan has faced so far," he said. "In a lot of his fights, he's fought older or much shorter fighters and he had a lot of physical advantages over them. He's not going to have any of those advantages over me.

"I'm much more comfortable at this level. I feel at ease and I know that December 10th I'm going to go out there and it's going to be another day of boxing. It's something I've been doing for 17 years.

"To me, Khan is similar to Tim Bradley. They are hustle fighters. They just try to outpoint you. A taller fighter is always easier for me than a shorter fighter, so overall; I'd say Khan is about the same challenge as Victor Ortiz or Bradley."

Both Ortiz and Bradley put Peterson down on their way to a draw and a points win respectively, the latter his only loss in 31 pro bouts. But the 27-year-old is fighting in his hometown for the first time and says that will be a major factor come fight night.

"I'm pretty comfortable with fighting at home," he said. "I wanted to fight here. I know that when I walk into the ring and see those familiar faces, it will help me in the ring. I shouldn't have any distractions or any added pressure. I think I'll deal with it pretty well.

"It means a lot to be the first big fight in DC in 18 years. Growing up, I watched the big DC fighters like Sharmba Mitchell, Mark 'Too Sharp' [Johnson] and Riddick Bowe. I dreamed of it being me one day. Now this is my chance. It's a dream come true and I'm just happy right now."
