In a recent interview on Lagos based radio station in Las Vegas, heavyweight contender Samuel Peter, who is usually soft-spoken, promised to teach James Toney a lesson when the two fighters meet on September 2 in Los Angeles' Staples Center. The winner of their contest will meet the winner of the upcoming August bout between WBC heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman and Oleg Maskaev.

Peter issued a warning to Toney if he thinks he can stand and trade punches with him, and vowed to stop Toney inside the distance. He made it very clear to the listeners that he is not looking to send this fight to the judges.

"If he wants to trades punches, I will put him through hell," said Peter.

Peter recognizes that Toney does have a huge advantage in experience riding on his side, but he still promises to teach the former multi-division champion a few new tricks.

"James Toney is a big (name) fighter who has fought all the big names in the heavyweight category, but I will teach him some good boxing lessons when we clash."
