The camp of Gerry Peñalosa has started the negotiations for the next fight of former WBC super flyweight champ Peñalosa against former Australian two-division champion Nathan Sting, sometime in April.

Marcos "Marc" Roces, Jemah Television president, is currently holding talks with his Australian counterpart, Kevin Leighton, regarding a non-title fight scheduled for 10 rounds between the two boxers.

Peñalosa (49-5-2, 33 KOs) wants to use Sting (28-7-1, 14 KOs) in the battle of southpaws as a step towards another world title shot after he scored a unanimous decision win against Paraguayan bantamweight champ Dario Azuaga on December 10 in Antipolo City.

Turning 34 years old on August 7, Peñalosa (49-5-2, 33 KOs) will permanently retire from fighting if he couldn’t get a crack for another world title within the year.

"Gusto ko nang lumaban, hindi na tayo bumabata kaya dapat makuha ko na ang tsansa na lumaban sa world championship ngayong taon (I want to fight as soon as possible. I’m not getting any younger. I hope to get a crack at the world title within this year)," said Peñalosa.
