Eight division world champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38KOs) is focused on the task at hand, his training camp for the scheduled trilogy fight with Timothy Bradley on April 9th at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Bradley won a controversial twelve round split decision over Pacquiao in 2012. Pacquiao got revenge in their 2014 rematch with a clear twelve round decision.
The Filipino star claims the upcoming fight will be the final bout of his pro career. Pacquiao intends to become a full time politician in the Philippines and is currently running for a senate seat.
Pacquiao recently suffered an eye injury during a training sessions and had to take a few days off. He is now back in the mix.
He went five rounds with Ghislain Maduma at the Pacman Wildcard Gym in General Santos City, according to a report by GMA News.
Maduma (17-2, 11KOs), a junior welterweight contender with a very tricky style, was said to have been overwhelmed by Pacquiao speed and power. He last fought in October and lost a ten round split decision to big punching Maurice Hooker on Gennady Golovkin vs. David Lemieux undercard at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
"He punches hard, man. I knew that before... He's very fast," Maduma said after the session.
After sparring, Pacquiao was still full of energy and worked the mitts with coach Freddie Roach.
Right now the camp is focused on stamina and timing. Pacquiao wore a headband and protective glasses during training to protect his eye from further injury. Pacquiao said the eye should be 100% by tomorrow.
