The adviser of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, Michael Koncz, is confident his client will stop undefeated Chris Algieri (20-0, 8KOs) on Saturday night at the Cotai Arena in the Venetian in Macau, China. They are squaring off at a catch-weight of 144-pounds. Koncz is expecting Pacquiao (56-5-2, 38KOs) to secure his first knockout victory since 2009, when the Filipino star stopped Miguel Cotto in the twelfth round of their welterweight battle.
Koncz also said the plan for Pacquiao is indeed to move down to junior welterweight in 2015.
“Pacquiao’s trainers made a wonderful job so far. I like what I saw [in training],” Koncz told the Manila Times Saturday in a phone interview. “If you’ll ask the weight, there’s no any issue about it. In fact, we’re planning to go down to 140-pounds for his next bout. I’m confident that we will see a knockout win on November 22."
