WBO featherweight champion, Oscar Valdez (24-0, 19 KOs), has been sidelined since March after suffering a fractured jaw during his bout with Scott Quigg.

Valdez won a twelve round unanimous decision, but he fought through fire with a bad injury to his jaw.

But his return is now on the horizon according to his manager.

Frank Espinoza informed BoxingScene.com - "Next month we'll be going to the doctor, we should be getting the stamp of approval during this final check-up. We've gone to see the doctor regularly and we just want to get final clearance so that he can begin training for his return."

In what was a bloody battle over 12 rounds at the StubHub Center, Valdez was forced to face a fighter who didn't come close to making the 126-pound weight limit and then weighed over the junior welterweight limit on the night of the fight.

Moving forward, Valdez will now be training with Eddy Reynoso, best known for his work with two division world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

"Oscar is very excited about his new situation and he's been anxious to start preparing for his next fight,' 'said Espinoza. "He's planning to start camp in October in Guadalaja, he's already doing some work now in Hermasillo but he'll start up with Eddy in October."

Espinoza says that if they are given clearance that the goal is to have Valdez return in December.

The WBO's interim champion is currently UK superstar Carl Frampton, who captured the belt with a win over Nonito Donaire and then a retained in earlier this month with a knockout of Luke Jackson. But, Frampton appears be heading in another direction. He appears be steering towards a showdown with IBF champion Josh Warrington at year's end.
