Featherweight Oscar Valdez (17-0, 15 KO's) is considered one of the sports brightest prospects and he concludes his 2015 campaign this Saturday night in Tuscon, Arizona at the Convention Center, where he co-headlines a 'Solo Boxeo' telecast on UniMas.
By next year, this former two-time Mexican Olympian could be in line for a title shot.
"Hopefully, hopefully, I feel every fight we're improving and I got a lot of faith in my job and the work that we do in the gym. I've been sparring good fighters, world champions, ex-world champions and I feel I'm on that level already," said Valdez on Monday morning before his days training at the Rock in Carson, California. Valdez is taking things one step at a time.
"But first I got this fight coming up with Ernie Sanchez. I don't want to overlook no fighter. Of course I'm there for the world champions but I want to finish this year, first. But whatever comes I'll gladly take any fighter."
As of now, the belt-holders in the 126-pound class includes: Vasyl Lomachenko (WBO), Lee Selby (IBF), Leo Santa Cruz(WBA) and Gary Russell Jr. (WBC).
