Highly-touted featherweight Oscar Valdez will face contender Chris Avalos on September 11, Top Rank matchmaker Brad Goodman informed BoxingScene.com.

The 10 round bout will take place at The Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas and will be televised live on TruTV.

Frank Espinoza, who manages the unbeaten Valdez, also confirmed this to Boxingscene.com on Thursday afternoon.

Valdez (16-0, 14 KOs) is one of Top Rank's top prospects. The 2012 Olympian has fought often since making his pro debut in November of that year.

In his last bout on June 27, Valdez won a one-sided 10 round decision over Ruben Tamayo in Carson, Calif.

The 25-year-old Avalos will be a significant step-up in opposition for Valdez.

Avalos (26-3, 19 KOs) returned to the ring this past Saturday, defeating Rey Perez over eight one-sided rounds. In his previous bout on February 28th, Avalos was stopped in the fifth round by Carl Frampton.

No word yet on the co-feature bout of the Tru TV telecast.
