A DUI case was dismissed against Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya, who was charged in connection with a traffic stop last year by the California Highway Patrol in Pasadena.
He was charged with 2 counts of misdemeanor DUI -- but pled not guilty to both.
The wwo misdemeanor DUI charges -- one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a blood-alcohol content of 0.08 or above - - against De La Hoya were dismissed after a defense motion was granted in a Pasadena courtroom, according to the Los Angeles Superior Court's Public Information Office.
De La Hoya was pulled over for allegedly speeding in his Land Rover just before 2 a.m. one night last January in Pasadena, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Big win for De La Hoya, considering Oscar was facing up to 6 months in jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.
Oscar has struggled with substance abuse for years -- and has been to rehab for alcohol and drug issues in the past.
De La Hoya first admitted in 2011 that he was an alcoholic and drug user. In September of 2013 he admitted himself to a treatment facility.
The move came on the eve of the biggest fight of the year for his promotional company, when Canelo Alvarez challenged Floyd Mayweather Jr. at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
De La Hoya, a former 10-time world champion and 1992 Olympic gold medalist, retired shortly after Manny Pacquiao defeated him in 2008.
He made a mountain of headlines a few months ago, after dropping a bombshell during a radio interview - revealing that he was back in training for a potential ring return and called for a boxing match against UFC superstar Conor McGregor, who back in August had made his pro boxing debut and was stopped in ten rounds by Mayweather in what was one of the biggest one-night sporting events in history.
