Recently defeated Orlando Cruz (20-3-1, 10KOs) is considering the possibility of dropping down to the super bantamweight limit of 122-pounds. Last Saturday night at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Cruz tried to capture the vacant WBO featherweight title, but he was overpowered and knocked out by Orlando Salido in seven rounds of action. Besides the glory of winning a title, Cruz was also trying to become the first openly gay boxer to win a world championship.
"I think I can make 122. I've already had preliminarily discussions about doing that, to pursue an opportunity in that division. On the day of the weigh-in [for Salido] I was 124 pounds, so it's a matter of putting in a little more effort and I'm sure that I can make that weight," Cruz told Carlos Narvaez.
