Ahmet Oner, President of Arena Box Promotions, said Odlanier Solis proved in the first round that he has the capabilities to beat WBC champion Vitali Klitschko. Saturday's fight which took place in Cologne, Germany, saw Klitschko knock Solis down with a right hand, but when the Cuban stumbled backwards he injured his right knee and couldn't continue. Before the stoppage, Solis was doing well in the fight with his movement and quick punches.
"I'm shocked. I couldn't imagine this happening. Odlanier is now in hospital. Due to the unexpected injury, Solis and I lost a lot. It's very difficult for me to take such a blow. What a missed chance. The first round showed that Odlanier is able to beat Klitschko. He was faster and hit harder. And then suddenly it all collapsed - because of injury. I have no words, just negative emotions," Oner told Helen Leonhardt.
