Former champion Omar Narvaez, 39-years-old, is planning to continue his career. The Argentine veteran has been out of the ring since last December, when he was knocked out in two rounds by Japanese sensation Naoya Inoue, who was moving up by two weight divisions to capture the WBO super flyweight crown.
Narvaez wants a rematch with him. Inoue injured his right hand in the fight and he too has been out of the ring since their match. Narvaez says there is a rematch clause and they were set to fight again, but the date keeps getting put off due to the hand injury of the champion.
"I'm mentally perfect. After I finished the fight I was well down, in no time they lowered the spirits. I understood as it was an accident on my part. We must have a rematch and I'm hoping that the Japanese fighter will recover because his hand was injured in my fight," Narvaez said.
"He was going to fight on the first of May, did he did not arrive because of the injury, and then he had committed to me in August, which also fell through. So for me I have to do a fight to see how I am, get into a rhythm so we're not caught by surprise while waiting for a date."
