Bombs At The Palace: Olusegun vs. Reid For Commonwealth 140 lb Title - The unbeaten Ajose Olusegun 19-0 (10) steps into the ring with Gary Reid 13-16-1 (8) at Crystal Palace’s National Sports Centre in London on June 15 to not only decide the vacant Commonwealth light welterweight title but to prove beyond any doubt that he is the best in the 140 lb division.

The Nigerian born Londoner already holds wins over two current Commonwealth champion, light middle Bradley Pryce and welterweight Ali Nuumbembe and Olusegun is undoubtedly the best kept secret in the division. This talented 27 year old must be commended for his tolerance having called up fighters of the calibre of Junior Witter and Ricky Hatton to no avail.

“I take my hat off to Gary Reid,” Olusegun said. “As he is the only British fighter willing to step into the ring with me.

“I have read reports about what Gary is going to do when we meet and the punches he is going to throw, but the question I want to ask is will he be able to take the bombs I throw back at him?

“I hope he is not judging me on my most recent performance when for some reason I wasn’t 100% because I know this is my opportunity to show my team, Sky TV and the British boxing public just what I am capable of.

“There is no way that I am going to let myself down.

“If Gary Reid fights in the manner he has been talking recently we will be in for an explosive night,” Olusegun continued.

“I don’t know exactly how long this fight will last but I do know it will only last as long as Reid can stand up to my bombs.

“Ali Nuumbembe, the Commonwealth welterweight champion, had only been beaten once in 17 fights when he stepped into the ring with me and couldn’t take it and I know on June 15, I will be crowned champion and continue my quest for the world title.

“From then I will go after bigger fish because I am the shark of the light welterweight division”.

This intriguing clash is supported by Tshifhiwa Munyai, the unbeaten South African superstar and Commonwealth bantamweight champion, whose formidable talent was discovered almost by mistake.

Also on an intriguing card is Gary Woolcombe who steps up for a rematch against Matt Scriven along with the promising John McDermott who clashes with Swadlincote’s Luke Simpkin.
