If there has been one constant among the otherwise inconsistent Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) movement, it's that the prospect level has become survival of the fittest.
Bryant "Goodfella" is among those who has proven to be up for the challenge.
The 27-year old southpaw from Ft. Myers, Florida breezed through what should have been his toughest test to date, scoring a 2nd round knockout of David Grayton in an ESPN-televised matchup of unbeaten welterweights. The bout took place earlier this month in Montreal, Canada in chief support to the ring return of undefeated light heavyweight contender Artur Beterbiev.
With the latest blitzing, Perrella (14-0, 13KOs) has now scored 11 straight stoppage victories, six of which have come in less than a 52-week span dating back to last June. Each of his past three bouts have been televised, though amassing a combined five total rounds of ring time.
It stands to reason that as his competition level continues to increase, so too will the the amount of time he is extended on fight night. Then again, it could just be the product of his 24/7/365 dedication to the sport.
“I live, eat and sleep boxing,” said Perrella. “This is what I do for a living and I take my career seriously. Since I'm moving up and believe I'm ready to take a big step forward in the welterweight division, there's no time to waste.”
His next fight has yet to be announced, though a summertime appearance is expected given his activity level. There are PBC dates galore in the coming months, so Perrella will just remain where he can always be found. At one point literally living in the gym, the promising prospect long ago adopted a "stay ready to avoid having to get ready" mentality, which has helped navigate through a series with so many moving parts.
“I don't have any vices and stay in shape year round,” Perrella points out while already looking to the future. “Next fight, I'll be even better and want there to be no doubt in anybody's mind that I'm one of the next stars in the welterweight division.”
