The WBO's interim world champion at minimumweight, Raul "Rayito" Garcia (29-1, 17KOs), has begun training hard for his shot at the full champion, Filipino Donnie Nietes (27-1, 15KOs). The fight is scheduled for March 12 as part of the Miguel Cotto-Ricardo Mayorga undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
"Both of us have a lot of experience, but I'm sure that I can break his good run against Mexican fighters," said Garcia.
Nietes has had four straight victories over Mexican boxers, which include Erik Ramirez, Manuel Vargas, Jesús Silvestre and Mario Rodriguez.
