As he prepares to return in December, former champion Nicholas Walters had a few minutes to answer the challenge of the World Boxing Association super featherweight champion Takashi Uchiyama of Japan.
During a press conference to announce his December 31 return in Tokyo, Uchiyama said he expected to make his debut in the United States in 2016, and cited Walters ( 26-0-1, 21 KO) as the potential challenger to face him.
"I have no problem fighting anybody. I will fight with anyone," said Walters, before proceeding saying that he has never seen Uchiyama (23-0-1, 19 KO) fight.
"He makes his fights over there in Japan, and as he says himself he needs to come to fight in the United States, on American television, for the world to know him a little more."
"Everyone wants to fight with the Axe Man, ever since I beat Nonito Donaire and Vic Darchinyan."
Currently, Walters is training to reappear on December 19 in a 10-round bout against Jason Sosa, at super featherweight.
