Top Rank is planning on trotting out Nicholas Walters (26-0, 21KOs) on December 12th on a card that will be televised by HBO. 'the Axe Man' last fought on June 13th in New York where he out-pointed Miguel Mirriaga over 12 rounds but with his inability to make the featherweight limit of 126-pounds, lost his WBA title on the scales.
It's not clear if he will remain at featherweight or move up to the junior lightweight class. According to the head of Top Rank, Bob Arum - "They're talking about the possibility of Evgeny Gradovich."
Gradovich (19-1-1, 9KOs), held the IBF featherweight title before losing to Lee Selby in London, England on May 30th.
Arum hopes that Nonito Donaire would be paired up with Walters on this broadcast.
"But we have a December 11th show on tru(TV) that is the alternate date," explained the veteran promoter.
"In other worlds I told Cameron (Dunkin, the manager of Donaire) that Nonito's definitely going to fight in mid-December. Obviously, if we can do it on HBO I'd prefer it but the fallback is tru(TV)."
