Hall of Famer Prince Naseem Hamed is backing his close friend, IBF welterweight champion Kell Brook (36-0, 25KOs), to secure the victory against IBF/IBO/WBA/WBC middleweight champion Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs)
Golovkin will defend three of his four belts against Brook at the O2 Arena in London. Brook is moving up by thirteen pounds to the middleweight limit of 160. HBO and Sky Sports Box Office will showcase the fight.
Hamed's career was groomed by the Ingle family, who are also responsible for corner of Brook. Both fighters have come out of the same gym and Hamed expects him to become another great from Sheffield.
Brook is a massive underdog in the contest. How can he win? Hamed is advising him to study the fight between Sugar Ray Leonard and Marvin Hagler. Leonard jumped from welterweight to middleweight, after a long layoff, to face the most dangerous man at 160-pounds and walked away with the win in a fight that most expected him to lose.
"This is a massive fight for Kell Brook and everyone seems to think that he will get knocked out, but I feel a little different about how this fight will go," Hamed told Sky Sports News HQ.
"I think Brook can box a very clever fight and use straight shots to get the victory. He needs to watch Sugar Ray Leonard against Marvin Hagler because that fight is the key to him winning this one. GGG is a great fighter but he hasn't got the ability that Kell has - Brook is the far superior boxer.
"Kell can be the biggest superstar in boxing and the best British fighter ever if he can overcome Golovkin. I'm willing him on to win so much and he just needs to realise that he has the ability and skill to get the job done. He needs to be ready for 12 rounds of relentless pressure and hard punches and be able to take and absorb it. More importantly, he needs to avoid a lot of it and slow down the fight with his brilliant jab."
