Hall of Fame trainer Nacho Beristain is happy to see Floyd Mayweather Jr. retire from boxing.

Last Saturday at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Mayweather (49-0, 26KOs) announced his retirement after winning a twelve round decision over Andre Berto.

Nacho has never been happy with Mayweather's style of fighting. He always felt the five division champion's safety first style hurt the sport, because hordes of fans would buy his pay-per-view events and leave disappointed with the lack of action.

Nacho trained two fighters who lost against Mayweather, -  Juan Manuel Marquez and Oscar De La Hoya. The veteran trainer was so unsatisfied with the way the Marquez fight played out - before and after, that he ruled out any possibility of a rematch. Mayweather lured Marquez to move up by two weight divisions to welterweight at a catch-weight of 144, but failed to make the catch-weight limit. He came in at 146 and paid Marquez $600,000.

"I didn't like his way of fight. He would execute a plan for himself without satisfying the public or making some type of spectacle. I celebrate that he's gone from boxing, because people will be able to see something different, something much more spectacular in boxing. He's was a very skillful fighter, but he was abusing [his skill with the way he fought]," Nacho said to ESPN Deportes.

"You have to give him credit, because it's no small accomplishment  to face so many good fighters and retire undefeated. He was criticized for his style on many occasions, because he gad everything necessary [in his abilities] to do more for the people but instead he protected himself with an intelligent and unspectacular manner."
