During a recent telephone conference with the media, Shane Mosley sent a message to the Floyd Mayweather, Jr., to stop thinking about him as a possible opponent for 2006. Win, lose or draw, Mosely said that he does not plan on fighting again until 2007, which makes him unavailable to stage a November pay-per-view clash with Mayweather.
"They can stop waiting on that because that is not going to happen. They can stop thinking about that because it won’t happen. They can come to this fight and check it out but that won’t happen in November. It will probably happen some time next year. I am not going to have a fight after this until next year. I won’t fight again until 2007," said Mosley
Mosley told members of the media that Mayweather should fight WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito, and then he will face the winner in 2007.
"Basically, go fight Margarito. Go fight Margarito -- then we can fight the winner."
