Heavyweight fighters are returing from retirement by the bus load. In the latest return to the heavyweight division, former two-time heavyweight champion Michael Moorer comes back to the ring on December 9 against Cliff Couser in Hollywood, Florida. Moorer has not fought since he knocked out Vassily Jirov in April of 2004.
SuperSportZone reports that Moorer, age 39, has already set his aim at a big fight, against longtime rival Evander Holyfield, age 44. Moorer has already fought Holyfield twice, and wants a trilogy bout to settle the score.
In the first fight, in April 1994, Moorer won a decision to snatch the IBF/WBA heavyweight titles from Holyfield. In 1997, Holyfield got revenge when he knocked out Moorer in eight rounds to unify the IBF and WBA titles.
Holyfield, aiming for a major fight in 2007, is unlikely to face Moorer unless his options really run dry.
