Mikey Garcia, a former two-division world champion, is mulling promotional offers from Golden Boy Promotions and the duo formed by Al Haymon and Mayweather Promotions.
Garcia (34-0, 28 KO) he said recently spoke to Haymon, but his brother and trainer, Robert Garcia, spoke with Golden Boy and they presented a rather important offer. By the end of the month, Garcia expects to have already made a decision on who will be his promoter.
"We have not made a decision but we're close. I'm happy because I spoke to Haymon on Friday and my brother spoke with Golden Boy, and they gave a very interesting proposal and we are about to make a decision and in the coming days," Garcia said to ESPN Deportes.
According to Mikey, who has not fought since January 2014, Golden Boy made a remarkable offer in where the two would function as promotional partners, while Haymon told him he would have no problem working with Floyd Mayweather and Mayweather Promotions to relaunch his career. They even gave dates for possible return.
"On one hand I really like the idea proposed by Golden Boy Promotions, a rather striking offer that has filled my expectations where we would be working as partners and that is very important. I liked the interest that they showed, we will talk to them see what's next because until now they talked to my brother Robert," revealed Garcia.
"And on the other hand I talked to Haymon, told him I had an offer from Mayweather for a short-term agreement, and told me that we could work together, that we would have the possibility of facing opponents that interest me and even gave me options to return in July or August, which is something I like."
Garcia has been out of the ring for over two years while trying to break his promotional contract with Top Rank. The sides settled their dispute a few weeks ago.
