Miguel Cotto Named Fighter of The Year

For the third straight year two-time world champion Miguel Cotto is the 'Fighter of the Year' in Puerto Rico.

Cotto, 28-0 and the WBA World Welterweight Champion, was announced as Puerto Rico's best boxer in the annual awards given by the Puerto Rico Boxing Commission.

Evangelista Cotto was named 'Manager of the Year' and young bantamweight prospect Jesus Rojas was selected Puerto Rico's 'Prospect of the Year.'

The awards will be presented on Feb. 20, at the Embassy Suites in San Juan.

Cotto is training in Puerto Rico to get set for a world title defense against Otkay Urkal, the WBA mandatory challenger from Berlin, Germany. Cotto vs. Urkal is scheduled on Top Rank's big March 3 championship fight card at Coliseo Roberto Clemente in San Juan.
