After suffering two back-to-back knockout losses, Michael Gomez (32-7, 22KOs) has announced his return to the ring and wants prospect Amir Khan (12-0, 9KOs) to step up in class by fighting him.
Khan's last win against Steffy Bull was almost criminal. Bull, a journeyman who was planning to be an audience member at Khan's fight in Wales, was called upon to actually compete. Bull made little to no effort to actually make it a fight and it was clear that he stepped in the ring for nothing more than a quick payday. CompuBox had Khan throwing 168 punches in three rounds, while Bull only threw 21 punches - and landed 5 in the entire fight. In other words, Bull was a punching bag that barely fought back.
Gomez told the Manchester Evening News that because of his experience, name value and skill, he would be a good opponent for Khan.
"I would be a big name for Khan to fight and we could put it on in Manchester, the country's fight capital, instead of sending Khan off to fight in Wales or Scotland," Gomez said.
