Julio Cesar Chavez is considered the best Mexican fighter of all time. Jorge "Maromero" Paez is considered one of the most charismatic box office sell outs in the history of Mexican boxing. Their sons, Omar and Jorge Jr., met in December 2011. "Maromerito" won a majority decision in a fight full of emotion and quality boxing from both of the young gladiators.
On Saturday July 21st they will meet again in a rematch of pride, honor and definition. Because of that, the fight is being moved to Tijuana's historic Municipal Auditorium which holds up to 5,000 people.
Omar "Businessman" Chavez (28-1-1, 21 KOs) will attempt to get rid of the only loss that appears on his professional record when he takes on Jorge "Maromerito" Paez (31-4-1, 19 KOs) over ten rounds in a welterweight bout presented by Zanfer and broadcast on Azteca 7.
The card will include a WBA world title fight between super featherweight Jorge Lacierva (41-8, 27 KOs) and Costa Rican Bryan "Tiquito" Vazquez (28-0, 14 KOs) - plus ten more professional fights.
Gusano Rojas Returns
Tomas "Gusano" Rojas wants to become the bantamweight world champion after losing his 115-pound world title in August 2011 to Suriyan Sor Rungvisai in Thailand. In this new phase, "Gusano" will seek his third straight victory on July 14th in Culiacan, when he faces Colombian left hander Manuel de los Reyes "Pajarito" Herrera. The card will be presented by Corpox and Zanfer, and transmitted by Azteca 7, La Casa del Boxeo.
Rojas (38-13-1, 25 KOs) will face Herrera (19-9-1, 13 KOs) as the ideal final test before going for the bantanweight world championship. The Colombian fighter is strong, left-handed and the same height as Japanese WBC champion Shinsuke Yamanaka. Rojas could end up facing Yamanaka this year.
Dominguez and Quintero Also in Culiacan
Also on July 14th in Culiacan, local talent as Ricardo "Pelon" Dominguez and Marisela "Baby" Quintero, will be part of the undercard that supports the main event battle involving WBA flyweight champion Hernan "Tyson" Marquez and Filipino Fernando "Gatillero" Lumacad.
"Pelon " Dominguez (35-8, 22 KO) will measure his force against Gilberto" Flaco "Gonzalez, a fighter with an interesting record of 18 wins, 14 them on the fast track, and only one losse.
In the next few hours the name of Mariselas´ rival will be released, and there is the rumor that it could be a flyweight world championship eliminator.
