As reported by Boxing Scene's Elliot Foster last week, Shane McGuigan will be the new trainer to British super middleweight George Groves.
The news was confirmed today ahead of a press conference tomorrow that will reveal McGuigan as trainer to the three-time world title challenger.
"Confirmed: @StGeorgeGroves new trainer is @McGuigans_Gym - more at a London press conference tomorrow #DreamTeam," was the tweet put out by the official Sauerland Bros account earlier today.
"I'm very happy to be teaming up with @StGeorgeGroves. Jan 30th is the start of the journey to becoming world champ," McGuigan tweeted.
Groves returns to action on January 30 at the Copper Box Arena, London against former Lucian Bute opponent Andre Di Luisa.
McGuigan, trainer to IBF World super bantamweight champion, has also added former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champion David Haye to his ever growing stable. Haye and Groves are long-term friends after being in Adam Booth's stable previously and will no doubt benefit from each other being back in the same camp once again.
McGuigan said, "I am very pleased to be working with George; starting with his fight on January 30th at the Copper Box in London. George not only has the skill but more importantly the work ethic and dedication needed to become a World Champion; which is our ultimate goal. I am excited for the future working together".
