Floyd Mayweather Sr., father and trainer of former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr., says UFC superstar Conor McGregor does not deserve to be in the ring with his son.
McGregor will make his professional boxing debut against Mayweather on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Mayweather (49-0, 26 KOs), 40 years old, is coming out of a two year retirement for the final bout of his pro career.
Mayweather Sr. expects his son to do a real number on McGregor, and pick up his 50th professional win in style.
He expects his son to punish McGregor to the body, break him down and then put him away inside the distance. Floyd Jr. - considered to be one of the best fighters in boxing history - is a massive favorite to win the fight.
"Even I could knock him out. After my son knocks him out on Saturday I'll be next. Floyd is ready, if age will affect him... we do not know, but he's always good, he's going to have a dominant performance. (McGregor) does not deserve to be in the ring with my son," Mayweather Sr. said.
In boxing no matter how much power you have, what matters is how you can take advantage of it. If you do not have the skills, it does not matter. I'm sure McGregor is going to suffer. Son is going to knock him out because he is going to punish the body very hard, the soft areas. McGregor is an amateur fighter and will be treated as what he is."
"My son has been boxing all his life, he knows how to do things, a lot of people doubt his power but they will see him on Saturday. He's in one of the best conditions of his life and he's going to make McGregor suffer."
