Retired pound-for-pound king Floyd Mayweather Jr. (49-0, 26KOs) has little to no interest in coming out of retirement to face former friend Adrien Broner (32-2, 24KOs).

This past Friday night in Washington, DC - Broner stopped Ashley Theophane in the ninth round of a headline bout of a Premier Boxing Champions on Spike TV televised event.

Theophane is promoted by Mayweather's company, Mayweather Promotions.

Following the conclusion of the fight, Broner challenged Mayweather to a fight Broner was angered by a recent interview where Mayweather took numerous shots at the boxer's skills inside the ring and his lifestyle outside the ring.

"Y'all probably know about this. Somebody I look up to, somebody that I admire, took the chance to do an interview and talk all bad about me. Now I don't know how y'all look at it, but I'm a man who learn sh*t from physical activity - so Floyd, you've got to come see me. You gotta see me, point blank period. I'm a man at the end of the day and I come from the streets, the trenches, I came from nothing, water and cornflakes. I will never let another man disrespect me. I don't care if we sparring or fighting. Let's get it on," Broner said.

Mayweather, who retired last September, was laughing from ringside.

"Today is April Fool's [and] that was the biggest joke of the night. I want him to continue to go out there and fight, win. And what's important for Adrien is not just winning; life after boxing...that's what's very, very important. I remember when I was young, I didn't have a Floyd Mayweather to steer me the right way. Don't be like me, Adrien - be better than me. Tank [Gervonta Davis], he's been listening. I just want what's best for these kids," Mayweather told Fighthype.com.
