Floyd Mayweather took to social media Sunday night to respond to Amir Khan’s pleas to get the next shot at boxing’s pound-for-pound king.
“I don't have an easy fight on May 3, 2014, so I can't over look Marcos Maidana,” Mayweather said via his Facebook and Twitter accounts, “but Amir Khan if you and Adrien Broner end up fighting each other on my show and you win (which you won’t)... I'll fight you.”
Mayweather (45-0, 26 KOs) is slated to fight Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KOs) on May 3 at a location yet to be disclosed. Khan (28-3, 19 KOs) was the other finalist in the race to land the bout, but after failing to do so, the British star turned his attention to former titleholder Adrien Broner (27-1, 22 KOs) instead.
“Floyd Mayweather, tell Adrien Broner to fight me on your card and when I beat him, you fight me next,” Khan said on Saturday.
Perhaps Khan will get his wish in the fall if all goes according to plan.
