Former five division world champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (50-0, 27 KOs) has continued to make the rounds overseas.

Mayweather just finished up a recent tour of China, and now the boxer is traveling around Russia - where the boxer has several business ventures.

There is a TMT Boxing Academy in the country - based on Mayweather's Las Vegas gym, The Mayweather Boxing Club.

Mayweather appeared on television network Russia-24, and expressed his desire to obtain Russian citizenship - a move that was done by former four division champion Roy Jones Jr. several years ago. Jones fought several times in the country and coincidentally he is also making the rounds in Russia at the moment - appearing at a local boxing academy to school young amateurs.

"I hope to get Russian citizenship," said Mayweather. "Today I already had the opportunity to look at a house that could become my new home in Russia, but everything takes time."

Mayweather, 40 years old, retired from the sport back in August, after returning for the first time in two years to pull off a stoppage victory over UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

Russia has been under fire as of late.

During their December 5th meeting, the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee [IOC], it was decided to temporarily suspend the membership of the Russian Olympic Committee and to remove Russian athletes from participating in the 2018 Olympic games.

The decision came down after the ongoing controversy regarding the widespread manipulation with the country's anti-doping system. Russian athletes who are certified to be clean, will be able to compete as neutral athletes or for other countries.

"I heard about the situation with Russian athletes," said Mayweather. "My position is that regardless of country and nationality, all athletes must be clean and not dope. Competition in sports must be free of PEDs, all of the participants in the situation must fight honestly and you must show your best results solely through your own body."
