WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. is taking the battle to Twitter. The boxer has started attacking Manny Pacquiao by daring the Filipino superstar to accept his challenge for a May 5th battle at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Mayweather is already set to fight on the May date, while Pacquiao has a scheduled meeting with his promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank, and the two of them will review the fighter's options for a late May/June return. Those options include Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Timothy Bradley and Lamont Peterson.

Last week, Mayweather had a 90-day jail sentence delayed until June 1. The boxer pled guilty in a December to a domestic abuse charge. If Mayweather doesn't fight Pacquiao in May, and surrenders to jail on June 1 - a possible Pacquiao fight will likely get pushed to the fall or 2013.

"Manny Pacquiao I'm calling you out. Let's fight May 5th and give the world what they want to see. My jail sentence was pushed back because the date was locked in. Step up punk," Mayweather wrote.
